OPHTHALMIC EXAMS

Ambulatory equine examinations can be performed in the surrounding Louisville and Southern Indiana area. We also offer appointments at The Kentucky Equine Hospital in Simpsonville, KY. Urgent same day appointments are available.

ADVANCED CORNEAL AND INTRAOCULAR PROCEDURES

Equine surgery is performed at The Kentucky Equine Hospital. Procedures offered include conjunctival grafting, amnion grafting, corneal transplant, cross-linking, foreign body removal, cataract surgery.

STANDING OPHTHALMIC SURGERY

Many procedures can be performed standing in tolerant individuals such as enucleation, third eyelid removal, eyelid laceration repair and conjunctival graft.

HOSPITALIZATION FOR ADVANCED TREATMENTS

We have the ability to treat around the clock if needed for intensive cases. Examination by Dr. Tolar occurs twice daily in these cases.

PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY

Photodynamic therapy is a unique and effective therapy for many types of disease processes including squamous cell carcinoma, sarcoids and immune mediated keratitis.

LASER ABLATION OF UVEAL CYSTS

Iris cysts or uveal cysts can obstruct vision in certain lighting and training situations. These can be easily addressed with a standing procedure.

TREATMENT OF UVEITIS AND GLAUCOMA

Treatment options available are medical therapy, intravitreal and suprachoroidal injections, laser surgery and cyclosporine implants.

PREPURCHASE EXAMINATIONS

A complete dilated ophthalmic examination can be performed either in the clinic or at the farm.
