OPHTHALMIC EXAMINATIONS
Small animal examinations can be performed in the office. New examinations include a Schirmer tear test, fluorescein stain, intraocular pressure and dilation when appropriate. Urgent same day appointments are available.
MEDICAL THERAPY FOR NUMEROUS OPHTHALMIC PROBLEMS
Topical antibiotic therapy for a wide range of infections, topical anti-glaucoma medications for sight preserving and comfort maintaining therapy, topical anti-inflammatory medications for diseases such as uveitis and post surgical therapy, topical and oral analgesic and pain medications to ensure your pets comfort through out the treatment of your pets ocular condition.
CORNEAL AND CONJUNCTIVAL SURGERY
Superficial keratectomy, conjunctival grafting, corneal conjunctival transposition, diamond burr keratotomy, corneal laceration repair, episcleral cyclosporine implants.
EYELID SURGERY
Eyelid laceration repair and reconstruction, tumor removal and eye sparing reconstruction with advanced grafting procedures, temporary tarsorrhaphy, eyelid tacking, laser ablation or cryoablation for distichia, excision of ectopic cilia, cryoablation for benign eyelid masses, entropion repair, brow lifts.
INTRAOCULAR SURGERY
Cataract surgery, Glaucoma shunts, Iris biopsy.
PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY
Photodynamic therapy is a unique and effective therapy for certain types of tumors like squamous cell carcinoma. This therapy is used in combination with surgery.
ORBITAL PROCEDURES
Eye removal or enucleation with an orbital implant is performed with a block which can last up to three days ensuring your pets comfort after the procedure, evisceration and intrascleral prosthesis (“Fake Eye Procedure”), orbital ultrasounds and needle guided biopsies, proptosis reduction and temporary tarsorrhaphy.
SURGERY FOR DRY EYE
Parotid duct transposition is available for dogs that are not responsive to topical tear stimulating medications
LASER SURGERY
Laser ablation of distichia or extra eyelashes, laser cyclophotocoagulation for glaucoma, photodynamic therapy, laser ablation of uveal cysts.
THIRD EYELID PROCEDURES
Third eyelid gland replacement (“cherry eye surgery”), thermorealignment to repair scrolled third eyelid cartilage.
ORTHOPEDIC FOUNDATION FOR ANIMALS (OFA) EYE EXAMINATIONS
These examinations can only be performed by a board certified ophthalmologist and are essential to find potential heritable eye diseases in dogs before they are passed on to future generations. Eye clinics will be offered every other month on Friday mornings.
SERVICE DOG EXAMINATIONS
Free service dog examinations are performed in addition to participation in the yearly service dog examination program.
